Distinguished Scientist, Director of CABS
Shri M S Easwaran Distinguished Scientist assumed charge of Director, CABS, Bangalore from 30 May 2015. Prior to that he was the Associate Programme Director for the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Programme and assumed the charge of Associate Director of CABS in 2007.
He obtained his MSc in Physics with Electronics from University of Delhi and M. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He joined Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE) as Scientist-'B' and rose to Scientist 'F' and worked on many projects.
He was part of the team developing the first technology demonstrator phased array based multi-mode radar. He has contributed to several radar projects such as phased array radar for Akash, Radar for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), maritime patrol radar etc. As part of Group for Forecasting of Systems and Technologies (G-FAST) a special team established at HQRS in 2001 he contributed in identifying the futuristic development requirements of technologies and systems. One of his main contributions was to identify synthetic aperture radar as a critical airborne radar requirement and enable initiation of the project of development of this radar.
Shri MS Easwaran joined Centre for Air-Borne Systems (CABS) in 2004. He is recipient of many awards including prestigious 'Scientist of the Year Award' in 2010 and DRDO Award for Path Breaking Research and Outstanding Technology 2012. Shri MS Easwaran holds joint copy rights and patents for several of his works.
